Today’s movie retrospective goes back to 1997. Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion grossed about $29M.

I watched this movie a long, long time ago, so I can’t remember it very well. What I do remember is a surprisingly technical-sounding story of success, even if only accidental. I think there’s a lesson in there somewhere.

Don’t let someone define who you are. You are probably smarter and know more than they think. That makes you more capable than anyone expects, which is a wonderful, exciting, surprising thing.

That’s good to remember, especially if you are in a sensitive or vulnerable situation like high school. Keep your eye on your future and don’t let anyone take that away from you.
