Today’s brooding movie is “Dark City” from 1998.

This movie stars Rufus Sewell, with Jennifer Connelly as his confused leading lady. It’s too bad that Jennifer’s character didn’t have more play in the story, but this story focuses on Rufus’ character, and the role he plays in it primarily. He even gets to have a big hero moment.

There are a number of big-name actors in supporting roles, so there is plenty of good acting to accompany the great atmosphere of the movie. Actors like William Hurt, Kiefer Sutherland, and the otherworldly Richard O’Brien.

The atmosphere of this Dark City is probably the real star of the show. It’s a very forboding movie, and the core mystery unfolds at a satisfying and interesting pace. It’s almost a shame it had to end. I really enjoyed some of the soundtrack.

I definitely recommend this movie.
