Ah, 1987 was a very good year. Robocop, Predator, and this week’s movie, “Raising Arizona“.

Starring Nicolas Cage and Holly Hunter, with such great supporting cast as John Goodman and Randall “Tex” Cobb, this is a very strange, wonderful, fun movie.

The movie skates along a line somewhere between the calm familiarity of “Napoleon Dynamite” and the Manic Fun of a Naked Gun movie.

There are chases, the best of which take place, given flavor with the movie’s signature yodeling (yes, yodeling!) soundtrack, punctuated by a quick pick-up of a pack of diapers (yes, diapers!).

Everybody is fun and wonderful. You want to love everybody. Even the despicable bounty hunter played to absolute raw and dirty perfection by “Tex” Cobb.

Just thinking about it makes me want to re-watch this movie right now.

Two baby-carriers way, way up.
